Sports Massage
What to Expect During Service
Each session begins with a thorough evaluation of your horse, including a discussion of your goals. This helps identify areas of muscle tension, fascial restriction, and spasms that may require focused attention.
The massage includes a combination of:
Stress and trigger point therapy
Myofascial release
Swedish massage techniques
These methods work together to relieve tension, support muscle recovery, and restore your horse’s full range of motion.
At the end of the session, stretching and core exercises may be performed to enhance flexibility and mobility. I’ll also provide personalized exercises for you to use between sessions to help prevent the return of spasms and support your horse’s long-term muscular health.
Session Duration
Initial session: Up to 90 minutes to allow time for a comprehensive evaluation and full treatment.
Follow-up sessions: Typically 60–70 minutes, depending on your horse’s individual needs.
Before Service
To ensure the best results and a safe, effective session, please review the following guidelines:
Please make sure your horse is clean, dry, and in a safe, comfortable environment prior to the massage.
Avoid exercising your horse immediately before the massage.
Your presence is required for the initial session. While your attendance is welcome at future sessions, it is not required.
Before your horse's first massage, please complete the client intake form. This helps me gather essential information to provide the highest level of care.
After Service
Massage therapy helps flush waste products like lactic acid from your horse’s muscles, so proper aftercare is essential for optimal results.
Post-Session Recommendations:
Fresh Water: Ensure your horse has access to plenty of clean, fresh water to support the detoxification process.
Movement: Light movement is encouraged. Either hand-walk your horse for about 20 minutes or turn them out to promote circulation and help reduce post-massage stiffness or soreness.
Follow-Up Report:
After each session, you will receive a report highlighting areas of muscle tension, tightness, or spasms discovered during the massage. We’ll also discuss recommendations for future sessions or additional therapies tailored to your horse’s needs.
